John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado that specialized in folk music, has touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell New Mexico. However, he discovered love for Colorado. He later moved to Aspen. Denver's national anthems to his adopted state have attracted many people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declares that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first to be inducted into the hall. Today he personifies the state for all people. People you meet in other countries, like New Zealanders, and they ask them "I come Colorado" and they say "I am from Colorado" And they respond by saying Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career in folk groups, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff originally wrote it to Johnny Cash's tune in mind, but Denver was aware from the very first time he heard the first versions of the song that it could be a huge hit. Danoff recorded the song a couple of days after having performed at Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
